TITLE:   MASTER ELECTRICIAN

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

            Help maintain the electrical components of school property in a condition of operating excellence.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalency desired.
  2. Three to five year’s employment in trade.
  3. Hold a valid master electrician's license or be in the process of obtaining a valid master electrician’s license.
  4. Ability to follow rough sketches and oral instructions; to estimate      materials; to repair electrical equipment and machinery; to rig and work from scaffold and bucket truck.
  5. Comply with all safety rules and regulations of trade.
  6. Possess qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with all staff members.
  7. Valid Virginia driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required.

 

REPORTS TO:  Supervisor of Maintenance

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop and oversee preventative maintenance inspections and repairs in all district facilities of power distribution systems and components.
  2. Oversee maintenance repair and troubleshooting for electrical systems and apparatus.
  3. Develop and oversee repairs on all indoor and outdoor lighting systems.
  4. Oversee installation of electrical services for construction projects such as: computer labs, power upgrades, mobile classrooms, parking lots and field lighting installations
  5. Review pre-construction documents and technical guidelines for district standards.
  6. Investigate and make suggestions regarding the implementation of new energy management equipment and devices.
  7. Respond to emergency electrical calls such as power outage and failures. Evaluate situation and take proper corrective action.
  8. Oversee inspections for contractor performed work in renovations and new construction projects.
  9. Responsible for identifying, estimating and prioritizing trade related improvements for district properties
  10. Locate electrical underground wiring for various projects.
  11. Review and authorize department purchases ensuring transactions meet district guidelines.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12-Month Contract

EVALUATION:

 

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and

administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
