JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Elementary Technology Specialist

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide technology assistance to the faculty, staff and students of

the school.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school,

supplemented by courses in business, mathematics and computers (technical/computer

training preferred).

2. Proficiency in the use of a variety of office machines including computers with

experience in Microsoft Office, email and other applications (database, hardware &

software installation) and troubleshooting experience.

3. Ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures with speed and accuracy.

4. Proficiency in business English; spelling, grammar and spoken language.

5. Emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to people and their concerns. Able to handle

responsibility, work independently, and maintain good working relationships with

students, families and co-workers.

REPORTS TO: Principal and Instructional Technology Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Instructional

a. Works with Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for the planning and

integration of technology into the program of the site.

b. Assists with staff development.

c. Assists teachers with finding web-based resources for teaching the core

curriculum SOL.

d. Moderates instructional software reviews.

 

2. Maintenance

a. Assists with software and hardware installations.

b. Provides support for staff with school email and troubleshoots problems.

c. Maintains the school’s network by adding, deleting, and updating student and

teacher information.

d. Updates and maintains software.

e. Coordinates the setup and configuration of new hardware/software for the school.

 

3. Administrative

a. Chairs the Site Technology Committee.

b. Attends Division Technology meetings.

c. Coordinates school’s instructional technology budget.

d. Maintains instructional technology inventory for the school. 

e. Coordinates through the Technology Director ordering supplies for site.

f. Assists in updating and maintaining school web page; helps teachers create and

update class web pages.

g. Coordinates and posts scheduling for computer labs.

h. Assists in maintaining school-level databases.

 

4. Other

a. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,

materials, and facilities.

b. Assumes responsibility for and participates in staff development (professional

growth) and training to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.

c. Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.

d. Responds to telephone, email and in-person requests, inquiries and questions in a

professional, polite and responsive manner.

e. Demonstrates good attendance and punctuality.

f. Attends all required meetings.

g. Maintains confidentiality in all matters.

h. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities. Respects the worth, dignity

and individual differences of others.

i. Complies with and supports school division policies, regulations and procedures.

j. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Instructional Technology

Supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.

2. Stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch.

3. Regular contact with staff members and administrators is required.

4. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200-Day Contract

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SALARY SCALE: Technology I Salary Scale

EVALUATION: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board

policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified

personnel.
