PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Develop and supervise a media program which supports the instructional objectives of the school.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Bachelor's degree in library science and educational media.

2.Virginia state teaching license in library science.

3.Experience in teaching and responding to the informaiton needs of young people, and the management and administration of library media services.

4.Personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, faculty, and community members.

REPORTS TO:  Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Facilitate use of the library by students, teachers, and classes.

2.Schedule and manage the library staff.

3.Prepare financial and statistical reports related to media resources.

4.Supervise circulation procedures.

5.Provide instruction for groups and individuals regarding use of library skills.

6.Assist teachers in integrating the use of library resources in the classroom.

7.Participate regularly in team and curricular meetings.

 8.Provide professional materials and inservice training to the faculty.

 9.Develop and maintain policies and procedures to facilitate the following activities:  selecting materials, ordering materials, processing materials, organizing materials, circulating materials, weeding materials.

10.Maintain accurate library records and files.

11.Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

 EVALUATION:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
