JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Clerical-Part Time 20 hours per week. December 1, 2017 to June 1, 2018. Location to be determined.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by courses in business, mathematics and accounting with experience in general office work.
- General knowledge of clerical/accounting terminology and school operations, methods and procedures as well as standard office procedures and practices.
- Ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures and to post accounts with speed and accuracy.
- Proficiency in spoken and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas. Bi-lingual (Spanish) required.
- Proficiency in the use of a variety of office machines including computers with experience using Microsoft Office, email and information system applications.
- Emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to people and their concerns. Able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, families and co-workers.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs all secretarial and clerical duties pertaining to the administrative functions of the school office.
- Establishes and maintains easily accessible files.
- Follows the medication policies/procedures and health care plans set forth by HCPS and DOE as well as the First Aid Guide for School Emergencies from the Virginia Department of Health.
- Attends diabetic and medication training each year as required by the State.
- Performs all duties relating to student records such as enrolling and withdrawing students as well as maintaining student cumulative folders.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assumes responsibility for and participates in staff development (professional growth) and training to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.
- Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.
- Responds to telephone, email and in-person requests, inquiries and questions in a professional, polite and responsive manner.
- Demonstrates good attendance and punctuality.
- Attends all required meetings.
- Maintains confidentiality in all matters.
- Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities. Respects the worth, dignity and individual differences of others.
- Complies with and supports school division policies, regulations and procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
- Stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch.
