POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Building Principal, develops and implements an instructional program, in Spanish, that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student in our Dual Language program.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field.
    2. Possess or qualify for a valid Virginia Teaching license in the Commonwealth of Virginia with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned (Elementary Education PreK-6 and/or Spanish PreK-12).

 

 

  1. Proficiency in public speaking and written communication to express and/or exchange ideas.
  2. Emotionally mature, objective and sensitive to people and their concerns. Able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, families, administration, staff, co-workers and community agencies.
  3. Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  4. Familiarity with equity and inclusion frameworks.  Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.  Respects the worth, dignity and individual differences of others.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to diverse audiences to foster professional relationships and express and/or exchange ideas.  
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  7. Proficiency in the use of a variety of office/instructional equipment and technology with experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and email.
  8. Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and the community.

  4. Effectively prepares/uses instructional materials and technology resources.

  6. Differentiates instruction.
  7. Demonstrates knowledge of the subject/grade.

  9. Displays enthusiasm for teaching.
  10. Utilizes strategies to meet class objectives, student needs and abilities.
  11. Effectively motivates students.
  12. Manages instructional time wisely.
  13. Provides an appropriate learning environment.

  15. Effectively communicates with students, parents and the community while following proper channels of communication.
  16. Provides appropriate feedback to students.
  17. Uses measures of student learning to improve instruction.
  18. Models professional, moral and ethical standards and personal integrity including maintaining good attendance and punctuality.
  19. Works in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, staff, parents and community resources to support the success of a diverse student population.
  20. Submits required reports on time and meets other deadlines
  21. Maintains accurate record.

  23. Takes all industry standard precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  24. Maintains appropriate state licensure; assumes responsibility for and participates in staff development (professional growth) and training to keep materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.
  25. Actively participates in and attends all required meetings.
  26. Complies with and supports school division policies, regulations, procedures, and the HCPS Strategic Plan.
  27. Effectively performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.  Regular travel throughout the school and effectively interact with students, staff, and the school community.  Regular contact with staff members is required.  Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of administrative or licensed personnel.
