POSITION SUMMARY: 

Assist the principal in order that the latter may devote maximum attention to administering an effective instructional program. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency. 
  2. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, equipment, and secretarial techniques.
  3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 
  4. Familiarity with racial equity and inclusion frameworks. 
  5. Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. 
  6. Possess excellent human relation and communication skills.
  7. Bilingual preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Welcome all visitors to the school.
  2. Check in all visitors and ensure all visitors have passes.
  3. Perform all secretarial and clerical duties pertaining to the administrative functions of the school office including: answering phones, checking in students who arrive late, ensuring the front office desk is staffed at all times, sorting mail, checking fax machine, copying materials for staff, coordinating dismissal, and supporting student registration
  4. Record and verify attendance information and reports, including connecting with parents/guardians related to student attendance. 
  5. Keep the office environment attractive and up-to-date. 
  6. Dispense medications, give first aid, take temperature and record all on the nurse’s log as needed. 
  7. Make new student cumulative folders and keep student files up-to-date with correct address and phone number changes. 
  8. Copy all records for transferring students. 
  9. Maintain confidentiality in all matters. 
  10. Model professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions, including non-discriminatory and cultural inclusion practices by respecting the worth, dignity and individual beliefs of others. 
  11. Comply with and support school division policies, regulations and procedures. 
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Regular travel throughout the school and effectively interact with students, staff, and community members. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members is required. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of licensed personnel.
