TITLE: CAFETERIA MONITOR

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Ensures the health, safety, and welfare of students in elementary school cafeterias

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with elementary school age children, school staff, and parents.
  2. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

 

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of School Nutrition

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Supervises students in the cafeteria during lunch periods in serving lines, while eating, and during dismissal.
  2. Maintains discipline in the cafeteria according to school policy.
  3. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate staff member as soon as possible.
  4. Assists in clean up of spills/accidents.
  5. Adheres to proper hand washing and hygiene practices.
  6. Cleans and sanitizes lunch tables after each use.
  7. Assists students with opening of milk cartons, condiments, etc. as needed.
  8. Encourages students to try new foods and periodically provides nutrition education to students.
  9. Assists students with proper disposal of food and beverages (may include collection of compostable foods when applicable).
  10. Refills condiments, silverware, and water coolers as needed.
  11. Cooperates with other employees, school staff, and students.
  12. Attends educational and in-service programs and meetings as requested by the Director of School Nutrition and Building Principal.
  13. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 day hourly contract (hours vary by school location)

 

EVALUATION:

            Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
